This story has been sitting in my studio for so long...when the war with Ukraine started. I was moved to make a piece but the world just kept spitting another thing at us. And I was overwhelmed and avoided my studio for awhile. But yesterday it felt right to go up and sit with it. It was as difficult, wild and messy as our world and the continuing news. But also I think in a way beautiful and hopeful as well... There is the chaos of war with the hope for light.
Ukraine I weep with you
Invisible arms are holding you
As your world crumbles around in wreckage.
Lives and beauty traded for greed and power.
War is unbearably cruel and terrible
In this already confusing and difficult world.
Where news trips over itself spewing bullets second by second. Pandemic, monkey pox, mass shooting Ukraine, Roe v. Wade, rights combusting, COVID, Trump, USA, Putin....what sound byte is next to play on people's hearts and minds.
We forget one tragedy for another until our ears burn and we retreat to the forests and waters.
Hoping something will disappear or change.
But...
Know you are not forgotten here...and
Know there are millions holding you in
An invisible tapestry of love and support.
In this unfathomable space. We are all just spinning on this Earth through a network of angels and stars. If we could only see, if I could only show you.
Can we spin with love not hate? Wash the stains of blood and savage destruction with tears of hope?
I am choosing to believe that love is stronger than hate and that our bravery is being tested all the time.
People of the Ukraine you are brave and beautiful and I stand with you.
